me & alan were called into the head teachers office recently... thankfully it wasn't to get told off, but to take a branding brief for a new Federation of Schools on Arthur's Hill here in Newcastle.
June, the lovely Head teacher of Moorside Primary School, (who has just been voted most influential person in Newcastle by the way) asked us to create a identity and branding for the new federation. Moorside Primary, along with Westgate Hill Primary are joining forces to become a better, brighter place for education.
The children from both schools were involved in producing the identity, we took influence from all the children's efforts, some of which were amazing despite their age. (some of them were only 6!)
The identity was to reflect the fact that the schools were joining to become one. We quickly realised that it wasn't just two schools coming together but 3 elements, the teachers, the parents and of course the children. We decided to use triangles to show this, with a section overlapping to show the new unity.
A brand was created for each school, so they may be recognised in their own right, as well as a parent brand for the federation, that is formed from the two logos. The identity becomes a dynamic and innovative representation of the schools.
The two logos form the capital letters of each School, Moorside and Westgate, with blends to accentuate their outer edges.
Their prospecus has also been completed, and looks absolutely fantastic, with bold geometric print overlaying their photography, all printed on a crisp white stock.
